Skilled work visa and EU Blue Card
Germany issues a residence permit to skilled workers who hold a recognised qualification and a job offer matching it. The EU Blue Card is the preferred route: it requires a higher education degree and a minimum salary, set for 2026 at €50,700 gross per year, lowered to €45,934.20 for shortage occupations and graduates within three years. These amounts are revised annually. The most common blocker is not the salary — it is degree recognition, which often takes more than three months. Do I already need a job contract?
